GURUGRAM: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday inspected affordable flats built in Sector 47 under the Ashiana scheme and directed officials of the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to get them repaired within a month.

He also asked the officials to prepare a list of beneficiaries and allot these flats to them within the stipulated time. To rehabilitate slum dwellers, HSVP had constructed a total of 1,088 cheap flats in 2011 and 2015. However, the flats have been lying vacant since then because the authorities are yet to prepare the list of beneficiaries. And with time, the condition of the flats has started to deteriorate.

“The low-cost flats were constructed for Rs 50 crore. They are available in two sizes — 30.6 sqm and 34.3 sqmt. These will be allotted to the beneficiaries at a cost of around Rs 4 lakh,” an HSVP official said.

Officials said more than 1,500 people had applied for the affordable flats.

“The department and the district administration are identifying eligible beneficiaries,” the HSVP official said.
