They received the letters in a meeting organised by BMC South East Zone at Satyanagar Park here on Thursday. Among others, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, noted musician Prafulla Kumar Kar attended the ceremony.
Survey was started in 2013 to identify beneficiaries for the housing scheme. There are 280 beneficiaries from Satyakali Basti of ward-34. Out of 280 sanctioned houses, 143 beneficiaries received the possession letter. At Rangamatia Relocation Project-Gadakana there are 600 houses for such beneficiaries. After these beneficiaries, Arabinda and Tarini Basti of ward-9, Dasaraj basti and Patra Sahi Basti of ward-12 will get their houses, said the MLA.
Each beneficiary had paid Rs 1,20,000 as contribution to get the house. “I feel really happy after getting this house. It is not possible for us to build a house of our own in a city like Bhubaneswar, but the state government has done this for us,” said Golekh Chandra Mohanty, a beneficiary with partially disability.
Ansuman Rath, zonal deputy commissioner of SE Zone, BMC, said the civic body is trying to accommodate such beneficiaries more and more.
